So what size would you consider a trophy fish. For freshwater for example a 10 lb Bass is a trophy. These are just my guesses what do you think?

11' Hammerhead
8 1/2' Bull
9-10' Tiger
7' Blacktip
7' Spinner
4' Wide Southern Ray

Lemon?
Mako?
Goliath Grouper?
Snook?
Barracuda?
Jack?
Nurse?

Great White of any size is considered a trophy undoughtedly

I know some people have caught multiple sharks over that size, Earnie has caught many Tigers over that, JDHammer has caught plenty of bulls over that and I know others have also.

My definition of a trophy is something worth really bragging about.

Tiger - 13ft
Hammer - 13ft
Blacktip - over 74 inches
Lemon - 11ft (not 10.5)
Barracuda - 55 inches
Tarpon - 150lbs

Any state record, tourny winner, mako or great white.

Hey Batrayz:

You asked about "about what I consider a trophy". Well, I have been lucky enough to have caught several trophys. First and foremost would have to be my big Tiger Shark. It was 13' 1" and weighted in at a very respectible 1,304 Lbs. It had a 89 in girth and it was a female full of baby Tigers. My next trophy catch was a Tarpon going in at 189 lbs. I also caught a 6' 4" Blacktip Shark not a trophy by any means but I caught it on 5 lb. test line...That turned out to be a 19.7 to 1 catch ratio. I also caught a Sting ray that went 450 lbs. It was 7ft. and 6" across and it had a barb that I measured at 3/4" wide and 14" and 3/4" inches long. For what it is worth I also caught a 9" 4 inch Sand Tiger that was pregnant and it had 2 pups in her. She was a big shark.

I would say some worthy LAND-BASED catches would be:

11' Hammerhead (thick not skinny; much different fight)
Bull 8ft 8in + (pregnant)
Tiger 11ft (fat)
7' Blacktip
Spinner 7ft 6in
Southern Ray 6ft wide

Lemon? 8ft 8in+
Mako? 9ft+
Goliath Grouper? 350lbs+/ 7ft+
Snook? 30lbs+
Barracuda? 35lbs+
Jack? 30lbs+
Nurse? 9ft

tarpon 80lbs+ 5ft+
redfish 30lbs
black drum 50lbs
cobia 60lbs
bonefish 8lbs
kingfish 25lbs+
mutton snapper 15lbs
mangrove snapper 12lbs
bonita 20lb+
permit 30lbs+

any sailfish, dolphin, tuna, african pompano, trippletail or other pelagic caught from land is in that category

One of my favorite land-based catches was when Juno pier reopened our buddy got this thing.

32lbs.

Just an average fisherman.

Damn now that would be a successful and delicious day at the pier.
I have seen some pictures of some Yellowfin tuna they have caught off southern california piers before, but only a couple as big as that.

Blackfin right?

you have pics of yellowfin caught off socal piers?

any bull over 8ft and any other shark over 10ft is a respectable fish in my book. sand bars over 7.5ft and a 7ft blacktip would be considered a "trophy" catch. depending on who it is depends on if its a trophy or not. take an average joe and put him on a 5ft BT and thats his lifetime trophy. for me, i want to break 10ft.
