what rod to put on a 16/0
If your fishing mainly beaches then I would go with the Gator 80-130 lb. or if you fish more bridges and piers I would do the 80-unlimited. the 130 has a lot of bend all the way to the grip and the unlimited has about 4 inchs bend to pull those monsters back out from under the bridges. So it is up to where you fish the most and what works for you. Hope this helps.
Hi manharvy1012:
If I understand your question correctly I would go with an "old school" Harnell 575 rod blank. This rod has all the backbone you could ever handle and it is light enough to man handle properly. A Harnell rod blank is hard to find but you'll be pleasently surprised at the quailty this blank has! Don't be too surprised when you finally find one.....all it takes is a little looking and you'll be pleasently surprised. I know, I have two Harnell 575 rods and two Harnell 580 rods.
Best and tight lines,

thanks guys greatly appreciated and actually cape haze rods is making my first one if all goes well driving down sunday to put in that deposit for gator 130 i just have another 16/0 i think im going to go with either an unlimited blank by gator or that harnell what do u guys know about the 555 blank
Personally,I'd go with the Gator unlimited. You cant beat them & they come in a 10' length & are also easier to find. If your looking for length, the 555 if I'm not mistaken only comes in 8'6" & is like finding a needle in a hay stack. Just my thoughts, good luck
I would go with the UL especialy if ya doing a long rod. Just put a long butt on it and it will help the mechanical advantage.
