To the Old man of the Sea...
To the old man of the sea, the one with the grey hair and grey stuble on his face, the one who looked like he had not slept in weeks, the kind old man who on one cold rainy winter night at sebastian inlet helped out a fellow fisherman out by lending my wife and I windbreakers, and fishing gear, thank you. The old man that spent an eternity at sea searching for his great fish, his white whale. The more I try to remember this old man and who he was I realize I know nothing about him. He was a complete stranger to me. He was a shark fisherman, and he showed me the basics of how he fished for sharks at Sebastian inlet, however, it could very well have been any inlet or beach. Was this man even real? You dont find kindness in complete strangers like that now a days. As my memory of him fades into the clouds of salty air rolling in from the sea I will end simply with a thank you, whoever you are.
This may very well be your "Old Man and the Sea" but for us he is 'Jimbo', a friend, and an inspiration to other land-based fishermen.
