The Dog Days of Summer

Well I don't know if it's the heat ,the BP oil spill or the lack of shark fishing that's got me feeling in a slump lately but this heat has me staying in a shady or air conditioned spot most of the time .Friends are off doing there own thing and not calling much and we've been down in the keys just working on our new property while the kids sit around the house complaining about being bored while the wife and I nearly pass out from dehydration in the 100 degree plus heat.Maybe everyone slows down in the heat in order to conserve energy and rightfully so the Florida sun can cause some damage to anyone not covering up properly or drinking enough water. The professinal fisherman say that the best way to deal with this extreme heat is to fish early in the morning or in the late afternoon when the sun is low on the horizon and far less dangerous.I think there absolutely right.I've recently had days where by 11 am my Tshirt, shorts, and underware are soaked from sweat just doing some work around the property and that is an uncomfortable feeling.Just recently we had some friends down for the weekend staying at a nearby hotel in Key Largo and all they did the entire weekend was stay in the pool and drink enough to drown a fish. You go figure!!In the keys with a hot dolphin bite offshore in the morning and a hot yellowtail bite in the evening and all they want to do is a big NOTHING!!!It's just the dog days of summer 2010 version.I think it's time for my visiting friends to head east to the Bahamas because over there the natives have a better way of spending time -they run on Island time, but for me I'm ready to do some Dog Days Fishing, sun or no sun.

Hots Right, I run a concrete milling machine all day long 120+degs. I never get in the salt water but here lately It dont matter how many baits we got out, Im in the water. Its so hot everything you touch on the machine sizzles. Lookin foward to those night jobs.
