Tekota 600 and Penn Fathom 25LW

These are 2 reels I use for my trophy flathead catfishing back at home. The Tekota has a smooth 18 max drag, and the Fathom has a powerful 30lb max drag. Both reels can get over 300 yards of 65lb. braid

Could these reels be doubled for blacktip and spinner shark fishing form the beach?
And some people also say levelwinds are not good at all for shark fishing. Is there is a lot of truth to this?

Thanks all, and have a good one!

I use a fathom 40LW for newbies on the sand. IT works great for tippers. It is a heavy duty level wind reel.
The Fathom 25LW will be fine. you can probably even get fish bigger than tippers and spinners on it if you have 300 yards of 65LB on there.

Thankyou TheGucci311!

I just double checked my Fathom 25LW, and it holds 380 yards of 65lb. Braid. I'm just trying to get well prepared for coming down for 2 weeks in mid June. I don't have a lot to spend, but I do want to add another surf fishing setup before I come down. I'm still looking at the Spinfisher, just need to pick what size is best, and then a rod to go with it.

Have you been able to get out much during the New year? Hope life and fishing is going very well for you, and have a great upcoming spring man!

Thanks again for your help!

I have gotten out a few times. Skunked each time this winter. The blue fish and sharp nose are here around pompano beach. I only yaked out bait once b/c I knew they were thick.

I casted some chunks and they were torn up by fishies. Then I brought out a fish pole and a shark pole...The fish pole was untouched and the shark baits were gettin torn apart all night LOL. Nothin big enough to pick up a 4oz lead!

Look at the SSV 8500 or bigger. The Tsnami airwave, airwave elite, Penn torque, penn prevail, Ocean master, are all nice surf rods. 12', heavy duty.
