Tarpon Already?!

I've been hearing here and there from the local guides in my area (Jay Mastry, Dave Mistretta, Larry Blue, etc.) That they are spotting pods on the beaches, in the mouth of John's Pass, in Tampa bay etc. They're not targeting them yet but "They're Here". Jay was sayin they're being spotted on the Skyway and Gandy lurking the shadowlines. This early? I LOVE TARPON SEASON! I have a really good feeling about this season! I think there is going to be some crazy sharks hitting the beaches this year! I think I'll get a tarpon tag next payday and break in my new 14/0 properly! Wish this wind would calm down!

I usually sight fish the pods on the beaches or fish the Skyway. They usually dont show on the beaches for a few more months here. We see loners here and there, but not pods this early on IRB. I have a little marina spot where we can find em in the winter but they're small and tough as hell to get to eat. I love Tarpon fishing but the past few summers Ive been pretty much just sharking. Also hearing about 40-50lb Black drum crawling all over pinellas point right now. You guys think a tarpon bait is worth the tag price?
