TAIL ROPE for beginners or pros!!!

As requested
I have learned this from a long time pro Mark Sampson. Here's what it is... I got 15 foot of good size coated cable, Hollow core water ski line and PVC. What this does is help when tailing a shark in the surf by giving you some room between you and the shark. It works like a dog catching device.

After getting what you need... Hollow ski rope with heavy rating, 15 foot of pretty stiff coated cable, (1/4 inch and above), 1 piece of good PVC big enough to fit the rope through and a solid SS ring.

Now you take the cable and put it up in the hollow core rope, connect the solid ring to the end of the Cable/Rope. Then you can cut the desired length of PVC about 5- 6 foot thread the rope/cable up through the PVC. To connect the ring you can back braid the cable or just use small clamps. When all said and done it looks like this.

Ok now you can make a slip loop with the cable inside the rope that stays in a loop, what this does is creates a nice big loop then you can stay away from the shark a bit by using the PVC pipe as a loop stick. Once you walk out to the shark and slip the loop around the tail you simply just pull and the ring will slide down and cinch on the tail.

I know some of you guys walk out with a limp rope and try and get it around the tail... it can be tough. This will make it 10X easier. heres a few quick pictures with it in use

1 more thing. I use this on the boat also, If you have a good leader man you can slack up on the leader and loop this around there head. If you do that its very easy to control the business end of a shark on you boat deck.

You guys will love this from beach, boat, jetties it works and has been tested.
Any thoughts?

Hi guys:

I always just used an eye splice on a rope. I carried that rope all the time I was shark fishing and it never once let me down. I personally see no need for anything but a tail rope.

The first thing we must do is realize how large fish feed. They like to chop the tail off so theyr prey is inmobil. All of the big fish know when something has theyr tail they are in danger, so they panic. It is hard to put a loop around its tail and it will feel ya back there. I just throw the roap over the tail and reach under ever so gently and tie 3 half hitches loosley so it doesnot feel me. I run back to the beach and pull the roap, and the fight is on. Keep in mind that ya have to walk way out around the fish so it doesnot see ya back there. I have tryed looping the fishes tail but tieing it is always quicker and better. Now the roap is a bit diffrent off the pier. If I could explian my tecnique i would but its hard to explain. One dude on the pier said that our team looked like a pride of lions on a buffalo's but. Very seldom do I have to try twice. For the beginer pier roap a cow boy lasso works well, but that is a head roap and i usually use the tail roap wich is totally diffrent. A must for the pier shark fisherman. That PVC rig looks like it works pretty good.
