stinging those rays!

i've recently taken up spear fishing for rays and its quite addicting. although im not the best at it and bounced my hawaiian sling off the backs of 6 rays my first time out i have got some decent ones and feel i've been getting more sharks due to a constant supply of fresh bait and being able to slap on a 5-10lb chunk of meat and not worry about having any reserve.

so far its just been off the beach, mainly the first sand bar and second gut along weed lines. i want to get in the bay and try the flats and around some docks.

anyone do the same? what do you use?

been doing well with the spearing lately. the june grass has thickened at my ray spot and the rays are a little harder to find but got these two today.

running both whole on friday night.

man i hope so. i had an 8-10lber out monday night and it got picked up. i had the hook though the nose and the shark picked it up from the rear, missed the hook by only 2 inches. haha. the bite radius was almost as wide as the ray, smaller teeth up front and it had two very large, half moon puncture marks where the base of the jaw would be. still trying to figure that one out.

but this time im running two hooks, one in the nose and one in the tail.

would you run a bait this big (roughly 30lbs) i ended up turning it into 7 smaller baits for bulls.

Y'All will get all the rays you want if you throw out a couple light rods with some shrimp on for bait ;any where the rays are flip out a shrimp baited line you won't have to wait long either
