Stainless Steel or Piano Wire?

Hey guys,

Having had cable cut a few times last year in florida i figure single strand is the solution to the problem. The question i have is, do you prefer to fish with the stainless steel or piano wire? What are the pros and cons of both?

Thanks for your help guys.

Matt

I like piano wire because you can get a bunch for cheap...so even though it rusts which is good for the fish if you have to leave the hook in...you can just retie if you have old rigs cause you have plenty of wire for cheap :D it just takes more time out of fishing so we'll generally make plenty of rigs before we get to the beach....and its easy to haywire :D

If you can find a place to buy it .........#19 you can get 2.5lbs for about 15-20 bucks and that lasts quite awhile..

We usually make the about 1 hour drive north of us to a shop just for it....just buy like 3 coils while we are there and it lasts awhile :D

Ok sounds like both will work well. Stainless I imagine would be hard to have a bite off. I did some research and the #19 piano and its rated 500lb while the stainless is rated 400lb. I think i will give both a shot.

I appreciate the advice guys. I am taking notes.

Anyone else have opinions?

Matt
