Smashing The Next World Record Shark -from land

Not an easy thing to do but a prize for the angler that is either very lucky or has paid the dues and gets the reward. Can it be done? Yes it can with proper preparation and the right attitude a hard core shark fisherman can forseably break let's say the World record hammerthead shark or maybe Tiger shark. The more likely scenario would go like this.

Man catches giant 1342 lb hammerhead shark after a 5 hour fight.

A 28 year old man fishing with his two friends caught a 14 ft 8 inch pregnant hammerhead shark from the beach while fishing at Boca Grande pass. The three friends knew they had on a big shark after the shark nearly took all the fishing line from the reel they were using on 4 seperate occasions and the three men ended up landing the shark half a mile from where they hooked it.The three men say they had seen this same shark two weeks ago attacking a 100 pound tarpon as they paddled out there shark baits on this same beach. The shark took a 10 pound sting ray John Doe was using for bait.At one point in the fight with the giant hammerhead shark John Doe thought he was gonna give up but his friends encouraged him by reminding him of his favorite book Ernest Hemingway's "THe Old Man and The Sea"in which a old man endured great suffering to subdue a giant marlin from a wooden skiff. The three men poured Gatorade drinks on the huge Penn reel to keep it cool with the shark taking runs of more then 700 yards and nearly spooling the reel. They fished the beach all night and hooked the shark at sun up and did not land it until 11:30 in the morning with a crowd of onlookers surrounding them. with tarpon rolling in front of them just off the beach.John Doe has been fishing for sharks since the age of 12 and says he has finnaly captured the shark of his dreams.Friday night the three friends kayaked baits out 200 yards off the beach and were suprised by the biggest hammerhead shark ever caught on rod and reel in the entire world.

There are more big hammerheads left in Florida then there are big Tigers left in the Carolina's so i believe it might be more likely to happen in Florida or possibly in Australia although they have beaches that are very difficult to fish most of the time.As evidence for my belief that record might come from Florida - the current World record hammerhead shark caught two years ago by Bucky Dennis at Boca Grande (1280 lbs) and many other huge hammerheads that are caught around Florida every year. The internet has opened a new interest in land-based shark fishing like never before so with enough good fisherman hitting the beaches throuhout the state of Florida it might happen one day.

Both the world records Tiger shark and Hammerhead shark have been held by land-based shark fisherman at one time or another.Starting with Walter Maxwell's 1780 lb Tiger in 1964 and held till just a couple of years ago when it was beaten by an Australian Tiger that weighed 1785 lbs.The Hammerhead world record was held by Blackie Reasor who in 1975 caught a 703 lb hammer from the Jacksonville fishing pier.

It won't be an easy task but i believe conditions are favorable for a new world record from land. The angler has to be physically in good shape, has to have a good team of helpers and the equipment and line have to be in tip top shape for this to be possible-and all three ingredients are equally as important .Go catch that next world record.Good luck.
