Should I go fishing today?

I got the day off and just finished my chores. It's 12:50, beautiful day and I can be in Sebastian in an hour and a half where the mullet are still running. So, should I go fishing?

Yes, there are so many landlocked people who would make that trip everyday if they were that close. Do it for them, lol.

Ok. I'll pack up and head out after I make a sandwich. Thanks, Rex!

Ended up at Jetty Park at Canaveral. There were reports of bluefish and I wanted to start freezing some as bait for winter sharking. But no bluefish for me, I pulled in a 29 inch blacktip (my sharks have always been small here) and that was fun. I also got my favorite fish taco dinner and a beer on the pier. I friggen love this sport.

I also checked out a charter boat, the Orlando Princess. They have $35 night shark fishing from 7:00 to 11:00 and it includes a burger and all the beer you can drink. I think I'll try it when I have a designated driver.

I've been on the Princess full day trips a few times, and the night shark trip. Great crew, very helpful. They just got a new boat for their full day trips, been wanting to go on that. We caught a few small sharpnose on the night trip, marinated in italian dressing, and grilled. Delicious! I just checked their site, and looks like they only run the night trip February - September.

Teele, is it REALLY all you can drink beer!? There is another boat, the Obsession, that has night sharking for the same price but I don't believe beer or food is included. They run Wednesday through Sunday right now and you can bring a cooler full of food, beer, rum, or that special bait for those that want to catch beasts (the Princess doesn't allow coolers?).

On the other hand, bagging some of the migrating blacktip in February with a tribe of beach sharkers would be sweet. Rusty's Oyster Bar is an awesome spot to refuel the blood stream once the boat ties down and Jetty Park campground is walking/stumbling distance from the dock in case you need to sleep it off for cheap money. Definitely would make for a good night at port!

Someone caught a small blacktip on a day trip, and the deck mate said they were protected and had to be released. I questioned him later about it, and he continued to say you can't keep them, I wasn't gonna argue about it. Anyways, all you can drink until the keg is dry lol. I think you can bring coolers, but you're better off calling them about it. I know most don't like liquor on the boat so try at your own risk. Count me in for hitting the beach or a trip on the boat!
