Sad but true!!!
Well in one week I was supost to go to p-cola to Navarre to destin in hopes of a mako.
Sad to say that everywhere I look the water is just to cold, no bonito, no blue runners = no makos. I know that it's a 1 in 1000 shot but when I do you will hear me yell with joy. But for now I am silenced.
Yeah it's been dead up here and cold. I havn't seen a bonita from piers for two weeks just whiting and id rather catch octopus at least they fight harder. march should be good just watch the weather we can get some wicked storms and cold fronts in march. The cobia run will be starting to heat up in late march too but thats a whole other battle there (the locals get a little crazy over the ling)when you come gimme a call maybe we can get together and fish.

yea all have seen is whiting
will do
The weather has been extreme up here in P-cola to say the least. Went out last Saturday. Bait deployment is easy with the strong north wind but my baits were'nt even touched after 5 hours, not even catfish or crabs touched it. Some days you get the bear some days the bear gets you......I believe epolk got his bjg mako in febuary if I'm not mistaken. The winter bonita migration has been weak this year and I believe that drives the inshore mako runs in this area. I'll be out there again this weekend
looking again.
Well the inshore trout fishing in the bayous has been awsome! I love watching a big 'ol gator trout slam a top water plug.
As far as the weak bonita run I totally agree, I think that drives those mako's in the water temp up here has gotten pretty brutal too it's in the upper 40's and lower 50's, I think if you got a little offshore and chummed you would bring 'em in but im not chumming out the yak anymore! Been there, done that, learned my lesson the poo your pants way. Anyway the bonita are pretty thick out over the wrecks and reefs starting about 5 miles they just aren't coming in and I think it's because of the water temps being so low.
