rod holders(sand spikes)
I go to Lowes (I work there) and grab a 12 foot PVC pipe and cut it in half. Then you have 2 rod holders. A 12 footer costs like $3.69 or 4 bucks at my store. I dig my pipes in somewhere near 3 feet so they dont flex/bend towards the water too much but a buddy of mine uses metal galvanized chain link fence posts because he doesn't like how much PVC flexes. Bait shops and other stores like Wal-Mart sell rod holders/sand spikes but they are usually really cheaply made and overpriced. Trash cans work too
but alot in my area are chained to posts and benches. At one of my beach spots there is a picnic table with a hole and pipe in the center for an umbrella, I just stick a rod right in there
. I'm not sure about flying with Shark gear (never tried) but I would think Id be very careful where I locate any LARGE Shark hooks. Id put them in my "Check" luggage and ask someone when I get to the airport. Last time I flew they took my nail clippers because it had a tiny file on them and a pair of small scissors
. I would think they would likely be idiots over like a 16/0 Sea Demon or something like that around here. Id just be careful with what I bring. Alot of things can be picked up when you arrive.
Haha the bench was a really nice idée ;D
Il look to get some PVC pipes then should work just fine I think.
Im not bringing any rods or reels from Sweden just the leaders as I didn't want to buy tools and stuff cause I wont be able to pack it when going home^^
Me and my brother will be buying like 3-4 rods all in all and about the same amount of reels.
It's the rods IM concerned about, just look briefly on the airline website and it said something about maximum of 2 rods and 2 reels per person. Which to me sounded a bit strange. But as I said didn't read it to closely.
I will but them as special luggage, so il have to get a good size pvc tube to transport them in.
So was just wondering is someone had any experience flying with any type of rods..
JPSHARK38: The trash cans are also nice but I don't want any trouble or fuss as IM a tourist I should show respect to the country IM visiting.
But I really love nature and ALWAYS leave the area I have been in as close to as it was before I was there as I possible!
No littering, no misplaced objects everything is clean and nice just as it were before!
Don't want to give fisherman a bad reputation ![]()
Understandable But You Only Use The Garbage cans After The Life Guards Leave. During The Day Set Your Rods By The Rocks Next To The Jettys. You Have To Keep Adjusting Them Cause The NE Current(Beach Swell) Will Push Your Line Closer To The Rocks. The Way To Solve That Problem Is Take Your Bait As Far As You Can( Almost Leave No Line On Your Reel)Heading In A NE Direction. And Remember To Use The Bigest Piece Of Coral Rock You can Find So It Doesn't Shift Around Too Much.
Hehe yeah that felt somewhat obvious ^^ I don't think IL be fishing to much with my shark equipment during day time when the guards might be around IL just try to catch some bait and have fun with my lighter tackle.
Unless i happen to see some sharks in the area ofc (a)
Haha i got a 4 feet 2-8 gram rod xD im going to buy all the tackle when i get there.
I will be getting a ocean master 12' with a Shimano Stradic FJ 6000 or 8000.
As well as a penn 14/0 with a 6-7' 80-130 rod.
Thinking of a Shimano Terramar TMSX80XH that i might use together with the Shimano Stradic FJ
6000 or 8000.
Haha I kind of did similar things when fishing halibut in Norway.
We weren't actually targeting halibut at that moment but we were fishing a large school of Pollachius virens or you might call it Coal fish.
And I had caught already a few 10-15 lb+ with the heavy gear so I wasn't catching anything really big so I got a bit bored after about 20 of those.
So I took my UL rod which is 4-12 grams and put on a "Stingsilda" don't know the English word for it and threw it in to the school for some reason it didn't get hit by the coal fish but dropped in under where there were a lot of big halibut (Didn't know at that time) so I hooked a 60lb halibut on a 4 ft 4-12 gram rod. You might be able to see the results.
