Rod and reel combo surf fishing.

I would like some help picking a good rod and reel combo for beach and pier fishing targeting tarpon, snook and pompano may be some rays.
Id prefer a spinning reel and a pretty long rod for good cast range.
If you could include what kind of line you would use on the reel that would be great.
Don't have much experience beach fishing but got 15 years of fishing experience so tips in different price categories is also appreciated.
Thanks for your time ,best regards Vic

daiwa sealine rod/reel is a good reliable entry level in surf plus guides won't rust. I have a 15' & i beat the heck out of it & still works well. I even charlie rig from the beach every now and then :).

Defiantly a good combo. Diawa makes good reliable products, but the reel component tend to be a little pricey if you manage to brake one (price you pay for quality). Also the Bass Pro "ocean master" series rods are good for the price. fin-nor reels are a little heavy but good:D :D :D

Penn 8000 Battle would be a good choice, and Penn Powerstick surf 12' 2 piece rod. 300 yards of Sufix 832 50lb braid and a 40lb mono topshot would be a good combo

Penn is coming out with a new series, the Spinfisher V, and the 10500 model will be out in late December. It will be a beast, I plan on getting one. From the specs, I would probably go with 300 yards of Sufix 832 80lb and 50lb mono on top
