In more detail, secure your rock or brick on a piece of mono with many wraps to ensure it does not come loose and come off, have about 2-8ft of mono trailing depending on preference, tie it to your hook after the bait is rigged on, or on some fish you can tie it on the tail (bonita). Drop your bait before you drop the rock because a few people have been dragged into the drink because a hook went in them after they dropped the rock.

Just an average fisherman.

i tie my rocks on to a triple swivel i also tie/crimp my steel to. this helps against false breakoffs for when the shark only nibbles baIT and helps against tangling between the bait and breakwaway line.

Drop your bait before you drop the rock because a few people have been dragged into the drink because a hook went in them after they dropped the rock.

im the opposite, i drop my weight to c what way the current is going and let the bait dangle in the current behind the rock.
