Real Redneck Stuff Trapping

You know we have been gone from FL too long when you take up trapping, honestly though this was a blast, started off with my son wanting to do a little trapping, had some beaver build a dam by one of my deer hunting stands, so we figured we give it a shot. Began by catching a few coons but had a hartime with the beavers they are pretty sharp. So we decided to expand our trapline, dad had to buy more traps $$$ After catching several racoons my daughter started paying attention, see you get $5-$15 per hide, next thing I know, off we are to the farm store, see she made me buy her some mud boots because she was going to be running the trap line with us. This is/was a girls girl everything pink, barbies the whole nine yards. Will this lead to me having to buy more traps$$$ on top of the boots, in the mean time we were still trying to figure out how to catch that darn beaver. We sought some advise and went back to the creek with a plan in hand. Low and behold the next day we caught our first beaver, the kids were pumped. In the mean time the kids began asking questions about all the different tracks we were seeing. Josh began reading up next thing I know, we are catching all kinds of critters, coons, possums, coyotes, fox, beaver (caught 4) mink.

When it was all said and done the kids made over a couple of hundred dollars a peice. Funny thing is over dinner last week, Josh comes out and says, "dad I don't think it was a good idea to let Anna trap with us" I asked why " well if she would of stayed home I'd have over $400" kid is sharp.

This was a bad deal for me on top of the boots and all the traps i ended up having to tan one of each of the critters we caught, but honestly what I great time I had with them!!! Enjoy the pics

Thanks!

I had a great time with the kids, got to spend lots of time with them outdoors. It was a great learning experience for them, I enjoyed watching them work through things, trap placement, looking for run/trails,asking questions about the different signs/tracks they were seeing.

When it was all said and done they decided to open bank accounts with the money they made.
