That's the way to do it hemi. The proof is on the sand. Fantastic catch and 11'10" of proof what a 50w is capable of!

I kinda regret shipping my 50w back... to bad I didnt have help spooling it maybe i would have been happier.I did like the overall size and weight.

i'm getting the 80w Should I run 100 lb mono or 130 lb mono.

I'm broke so I can afford braid right now.

If you are fishing straight mono, then I would go with 100lb for the capacity. Alot of big fish have been landed on 100lb line.

#100 momoi diamond or #100 bullbuster

diamond is super tough and breaks at over %150 of its rated strength, but bullbuster is cheap and still damn good

Some info about Diamond,
full post... http://www.sharksonthesand.com/forum/vi ... f=8&t=1073
Well some of you know I like to practice abusing my gear. I have figured out the reason for the line breaking in the rod blank. Now to give Momoi diamond some credit this happens on all the lines. After pulling on the line around 8-10 times at 50-70lbs of drag it stretches out and becomes weak. I now have broken enough line to know when its coming after a few hard practice runs with heavy drag. The line breaks at the stripper roller every time, this is obviously the most stress point on the line. I can break line that has a breaking strength of 150lbs with around 55lbs of pressure... believe it or not. Understanding the stretch, water drag, heat, speed and drag is the only way to maximize your lines ability.

So now that I know after a few good fish no matter if the line has any abrasion and looks new it should be replaced. It really blows my mind on how week the line becomes after its stretched out a few hard runs. Some lines are more susceptible to stretching more and breaking sooner... Momois diamond is awesome stuff when new, but the amount it weakens after a stretch is horrible. Sufix and Izor stand up to stretch much better IMO.

I thought some of you would like the info and for others here is a good laugh for ya.

I know most think I am NUTS but I can guarantee when the time comes when I do have to lock the drag down on 60lbs... I will know what to expect. 60lbs of drag is nuts, but practicing like this only makes me understand it and also makes 40lbs of drag a walk in the park.
Whats the saying.... dont talk the talk if you cant walk the walk.

You can find some 500-600 yard spools of good braid fairly cheap and a 800 yard spool of 130 mono pretty cheap.

My choice would be JB 200 Hollow x 600 yards then Izorline first string or Sufix 130lb Mono to fill her up

I regret selling my 50w for sure but im going to have a blast with my 30w for a while and see if i can get as comfortable with it as i was the 50w - its got plenty of power and capacity so well see.
