It used to be a pretty common fish in the 70's and 80's. 
Sometimes we just refer to them as
sea weed also.

That's why I my reel is orange, rod is trippy dark rainbow, line is dark rainbow, and even hooks are rainbow.

Back in the 70s I retreved one in my one man blow up raft. The life guards gave us fist shot and than took the rest. I was on south beach pier and called first shot. Thats why I was the frist fisherman to call frist shot. It caught on quick and is used today.
