Pre setting drag on 2 speed reels

I have fished senators for the last 12 years and finally bought a lever drag. Avet80w. I'm curious as to what you guys preset your drags at. I know how to pre set just looking for how much drag and why. Thanks.

I preset it to get as much drag out of the reel as possible. I keep the lever in free spool when the bait is soaking. I put enough drag with the pre-set so the line will not go out from the current or duringcreate a birds nest

Had a phone issue.... Or enough drag not to have a birds nest when I get a hit. While the fish is running a max out the preset in free spool. I now have all the drag availble. Good luck.

Ok so you set your pre set as high as you can? So if the reel has 60 of drag at full you set at strike at what? I'm sorry I have never fished lever drags and just wanting to find out before I try it out

I dont engage directly to strike. I use circles and increase the drag until the fish is hooked and then determine drag by feel. Everyone is different. This is the method I have evolved into over the years.
