Thinking of ways to improve things for landbased fisherman here in south florida and bring some respect for a national historic monument built by a true visionary Henry Flagler,the seven mile bridge and bahia honda for that matter deserve to be restored for all the world to see .They stand as examples of what positive things man can do even when the odds are stacked against them.The Florida Department Of Transportation has the largest budget of all state agencies yet they are allowing these national monuments to slowly crumble into the sea,,shame on them.I believe that w e can start a petition with all the interest that is demonstrated in this site to get the ball rolling on preserving and upgrading these two bridges into fishing piers to be enjoyed by all. Think of it golf cart rides out to your spot anywhere on the bridge lights all along the bridge for night fishing ,live bait sold ,a restaurant at the end .We in Florida can show the world that we care about our national treasures and care about our sportsman.I wonder if Japan would allow such a monument to slowly collapse into the ocean with no benefit to mankind-probably not.Let,s start a petition to get fdot to fund the restoration and conversion of these two bridges into something we can all enjoy and be proud of. I have to say it almost reminds me of cuba and how castro and raul are letting the country of our fore fathers crumble in to the sea from witch it came...As a young man (15 yrs old) i had a chance to visit cuba with my family.I have never seen such emence butey as that country has.But that is neither here nor there.I think if the goverment saw things like that it may be a little different.
