Does anyone here have experience fishing Pass-a-grille? Never fished it before, but a buddy told me to check out an aerial of it and it looks like a sweet shark spot. Might try it out here soon.

I fish it all the time but never Shark fished it yet. Always wanted to but that tide rolls pretty fast and Id be all over the place in my canoe (it drifts fast and is a pain to fight wind and tide in). Ive casted baits and get quite a few Tippers and Sharpnose and Bonnetheads in the summer while Im slinging shad off the jetty for Tarpon. Also it is pretty damn deep right off the jetty so every boat cuts the corner really close, close enough to pick up my casted baits  they even pass really close to the seawall all the way out the pass.
Off the right hand side of the jetty the swim buoy's start pretty close. Ive always wanted to set up on the sandy spot at the end of the seawall though. Out on the boat coming in and out of the pass Ive seen some huge shadows following pods of Tarpon. Im convinced there are monsters home but the boat traffic and rough water and quick tide have kept me from giving it a shot. Killer snook spot in the summertime btw see some of the biggest snook Ive ever seen. Like 48-50 inchers, big breeders. Maybe I'll give it a shot this weekend if I can get out there, guess its worth a shot. Traps still all over my beach spot .

I'm fishing it this weekend too, but on the other side of the point, inside the pass. If you look at an aerial its the little beach north of the two docks. Buddy of mine said he heard it was one of the better shark spots around, with water dropping to about 33 feet out 150 yards. He has a crew together and we'll probably be out sunday night.

Btw did you ever find anything out from the redington pier guys?

Yeah, you're talking about the sandy spot just at the end of the seawall where the condos start and the road hooks right. Correct? Thats exactly where I was talking about too. Yeah, it drops off and gets deep fast right there. I can only fish Fri-Sat nights so I prob wont run into you guys. But if I give it a shot I'll let you know.
A buddy of mine called Reddington and they told him there are "no reel restrictions anymore" you just cant use the club gear unless one of the guys offers or something. So I guess ballooning and such, or paddling your own yak from the beach all the way out to the end and having someone drop your bait in your lap and paddling it out, dropping it and putting the yak back in your truck is cool :D. I wonder if they would say something if you tied your kayak off under the pier and climbed up topside? Thats what I had in mind 8-).

Sweet man thanks, I had emailed the pier regarding the club members inviting us out, and such, but never got a reply. Good to know, I might just head out there saturday. And yeah that's the spot I was talking about.

Waiting on Fri (payday) to start xmas shopping (which I hate) but If I have a dime left to my name I may try Reddington, if not I'll be trying Pass-a-Grille spot if conditions are right for it, its been pretty calm lately 8-). My crew is just myself, GF, Armydog buddy Steve and his Wife who is a "Squid". If you see us around dont hesitate to say whats up. I'll be the quiet one shaved head, glasses and goatee and tattoos doing all of the work while everyone watches . You cant miss the 15ft Camo Canoe.

Alright I'll definitely keep an eye out for you. I'll be the kid in the blue and white fish camo visor with two 9/0's, one of which has a winch-style handle. If I'm at passe-a-grille i'll have a blue sit-in kayak.

I ended up in Clearwater Pass. Just trout, ladyfish and catfish home that night. No runs on the shark rods.
