Overregulated & Overpriced- fishing from shore gets bad!!

This guy tells it like it is and it's pretty bad in South Florida.

A little back ground of myself. I grew up on the beaches of boca raton. I am 30 years old now. I am a professional chef. In 2004 I moved to St. Thomas from here to escape the rat race and competition. I lived on island for 2 years and took a job on a term charter boat based in the B.V.I.'s, St. Marteen and Trinidad. After that I worked in the Bahamas, Alaska, and the last year in Vail Colorado. I have also spent time in South America and Central America. Everytime I come back here there are more rules and basic things costs more money for things that should never be charged for in the first place. I went to fish red reef park when I got back and I know everytime I come back its going to cost more. I get there at 6:00 p.m. to get the sunset bite. It cost me 17.00 to get in!! I had live shrimp so I stayed after dark. I get back to my car and I have a 25.00 ticket for being there past 7:00. When I was paying the 17 bucks to go to the beach the guy didn't bother to tell me I only had an hour before the park closed. I lived here for a long time and I know the rangers come around at 11:00 to lock the gates. What harm was my car doing there in an empty parking lot to justify a ticket!! 2 days later a swell came through and I went to Boca inlet. I guess they don't feel like paying a guy 8.00 an hour to take money in the booth anymore so they bought a machine. It's complicated and doesn't print any reciept to show you paid. All I had was 20s so I put it in and then read machine doesn't give change(my fault but I wonder how many times that happens?). Next day I'm with my buddy and we go check out the surf there. We get out just to look and he sees a guy looking at him in an unmarked truck and says you just look. The guy walks up and says he has to stay with his vehicle or he will be ticketed! My question is you can't afford to pay for somebody in the booth and buy this "hi tech" parking system but you have no problem paying some guy to sit in his truck all day and write tickets! Aparently its illegal to surf fish during lifeguard hours at delray now. Along with no skimboarding, no pets, and the best "no throwing objects" + things I can't remember. Did some body die from being hit by a frisbee?? For a quarter you get 12 minutes. I looked and there were 2 meter maids coming from different directions cashing in. I pay my meters and if the surf is good its worth it but when does it end?? Last night I went on a date at a restaurant by the beach in Lantana. We decided to walk on the beach(full moon, nice night) and walked south. We were making out(all clothes on) and I see this light coming down the beach. It's around 12 at this point and this cop on a atv pulls right up to us with his brights in our face. I am polite and say we were just hanging out. He asks for i.d. a standard practice now. I'm surprised he didn't want to pat me down for his saftey:lol: I say now problem. I asked if sitting on the beach is illegal? Apparently in Lantana above the tide line is private property!! I have a St. Thomas licence so he can't figured out my i.d. I don't know why? I ask if he needs my social being polite, I know I have no warrents so I'm not worried. I start b.s.ing with him telling I grew up here and used to fish these beaches all the time. He proceeds to tell me that I now need a 9.00 permit to fish the beach. I ask him if he is serious:scratch: I tell him on an a second date with this girl and so on. So He gives me my licence back and looks at my me and my date and says you have obviously had some run ins with the law. She looks at me like a might have murdered someone. I got a DUI and fleeing charge 10 years ago. I was wrong paid my dues and have completely changed my life since. He was being a dick just to be a dick. I come back here and places I have fished for 20 years now have no trespassing signs and people tell me they are going to call the police because I'm fishing! If it sounds like I'm bitter I am. For me to fish legally here like I want I need a freshwater/ saltwater, beach permit, lobster stamp and a snook stamp. Is a largemouth bass stamp next? I grew up here and feel like I'm a prisioner and looking over my shoulder when I feel I shouldn't have to. If things like this happened in the Caribbean there would be riots. People there have common sense and don't stand for things that are not right! Some people will say if you don't like it leave, well my boat sails in 9 days. It just scares me everytime I come back here how much more authority there is. You go out for a day on the water and there is Marine Patrol, FWC, Boca raton police, palm beach county sherrifs and the coast guard. The coast guard and FWC is all you need. The other are just hiding and writing tickets for speeding and no wake zones. I am all about busting poachers and people over bag limits and short fish. Once agaian I respect all law enforcement and realize they are out there just doing their job. Why do people need photo i.d.s that are swiped in a machine at the boat show?? Fingerprints next year? I saw a show yesterday that said around 70,000 people go through the miami central jail for booking each year. That almost twice the population of St.Thomas. The attitude of police here seems to be if you are not arresting someone or writing tickets you are not doing your job. Others countrys laugh at our prision system and how many people are in the system. Money is being made and lives are being ruined. Rapists and murderes get paroled for somebody selling weed. Thats all from me. Just had to vent. I'll be in a place soon where you just live life and don't have to worry so much. Do you think I'm right or wrong??
