Outcast mega shark tournament doing it cave man style
It seems that all the protected species stuff is a big joke on us!! I edited this because I don't want to be a squealer. The outcast mega shark tournament is not a catch and release tournament. I really wish the cave man tourney would evolve as the rest of the responsible shark fishing community. Biggest today is a 13'5" hammer. Im sure y'all can find some pics. I can't post pics.

Yep. Federal waters. I really hate to say anything but what is good for the goose should be good for the gander. I don't intend to harvest a big shark but I don't want to be harassed because I catch a protected species, that isn't protected at all. It's protected from a clan of fishermen who was gonna let it go any way.

I'm not as sad for these sharks as I am for the land-based shark fishing community. If anybody does research, the normal range for the majority of the sharks caught are inside state waters and federal waters is usually too far out for most species that hang around reefs to form good numbers. Of course these sharks can be caught in Federal waters but it is more than likely they were either caught in state waters or HIGHLY chummed up to travel into federal waters to feed.

All the ignorance surrounding shark fishing is a big disappointment to me. Equality has been lost; I can't afford a boat to go slaughter some potential records for my own pride. But with my resources allowing me to fish land-based with the intentions of releasing sharks big and small (record fish or not), I still have to deal with the system trying to prohibit me from even having fun battling such beasts and am stuck concern myself with some "dead shark statistics" that don't even include me.
Nobody puts the time in to show the contrast in dead sharks between land-based sharkers, kill tournament fishermen, and commercial boats. I wonder if scientists like Neil Hammerschlag even know about this kill tournament?
Just an average fisherman.
I've seen this coming even before the law was implemented. I talked about it on forums, and now - there we have it. Like usual, laws are made against people with less money in our society and not so much for thous with money.
The guy who came up with this idea was pretty smart, i mean - let's show the world that FL can take initiative, but yet let the shark killers drive they boat 3 miles in federal waters WITH THE SHARK HOOKED, and free-pass them back with that killed prohibited shark in state waters. But wait, they better have a nice expensive boat where for sure the engine won't turn off on them on the way in to be "caught" by the law. In other words, these boaters can drive all the way back to the docks with, let's say already killed hammerhead and do whatever they want - as long as they won't stop at all in state waters. I shall love these types of FL laws.
The workin mans big game fish. The winner was a 950lb tiger shark. I think seven big tigers were weighed in. A 600+ and a 700+ along with several other species.

This tournament is just ridiculous were are the hippie's when you need them. Shore bound shark fisherman promote conservation but we get harassed by tree hugging hippie's
. these guys don't get messed with for 5 tourneys that's just ridiculous someone needs to post this on youtube so the conservationist and the science community can share there opinion openly. It would be rather nice to see the anger and harassment aimed in the right direction!!

Things have changed tremendously in the last 20 years and the organizers of this tourney don't bend to external forces -they are Americans and have the right to live as free man.

I agree with Will, it is there human right to harvest a fish. I just wish they would evolve. I think the aggravation is directed more toward the protected species fact. It's a protected species for us and not for others. My personal beliefs tell me that there is something not quite right about fishing tournaments especially cash prize tournaments. We are fishermen and a fisherman competes with fish not with other people. If there was no cash prize and no tournament none of the folks competing would have ever went shark fishing. So I call those who only fish during tournaments "tournament fishermen". That's why I always say "I ant no tournament fisherman" Each to there own but if ya want to compete with another man ya should do it hand to hand.
