I know there are many old timers who will disagree with me, but I always felt that the name Old Moe was used for any monster hammer head at Bahia Honda. There were an abundance of hammers there back in the day. :?

A friend of mine caught a 12 footer there on a crevalle under a balloon two years ago. That's the biggest I've heard of in the past 10 years.

no there was a particular hammer that hung under the 4 th section of old bridge many people saw it it was estimated at 18ft i saw it in 28 ft of water while lobster diving under the bridge but that was like 20yrs ago when i was a teenager and as for old hitler of tampa bay i have an old issue of florida sportsman i think 1993 a guy claimed to have hooked and fought old hitler but he didnt think it survived when then tried to release it cause the fight was so long and the shark was gut hooked that one was estimated at 19ft

I read an article in the FS magazine back in 2008 about Big Moe. I'd personally like to see a picture of a 6ft plus wide hammers head next to a person. To me, a 6ft+ wide head doesn't seem proportional on an 18ft hammer. Will posted the article up a while back. Heres a link to it. viewtopic.php?f=27&t=595

It is porportional. Just look at the weight charts. NWF had one called JOBE. he was over 20' and was hooked off the pier several times only to strip every one who hooked him. It striped a 16/0 and a 14/0 at the same time after eating 2 baits at navare pier. They wound up shooting it with a 50cal from a helacopter in pcola bay in the early 80's. It had started messing with people.
