I was snooping around the "East Coast Pier & Jetty News" section 
I saw a post from May 1st saying the Newport Pier was going to be finished by August 2011. ...It's August 2011, and I was wondering if they have made any headway on the new pier. I know if it were opened, I would drive down from Jupiter to fish it

I haven't checked on it in a month but from the progress I saw then I highly doubt it is done yet, when I saw it they had the restaurant completely torn down and the pier cut off from land access
Just an average fisherman.
