Need advice on lines

Well just got into surf sharkin and have found a few problems with my gear.... i have 3 sennator 6/0 and 2 4/0...iv got the 6s packed with about 450-500 yards of 60lb mono and the 4s significantly less line.....first time on the beach one of the 6s got taken down to 1/4 spool then snapped as i was starting to get nervous about loosing all the line. iv been reading and it seems most of you are against braid, but seems this is my best bet...just looking for some insight.

On my 6/0, I had 300 yards of 65lb braid under 400 yards of 50. So 700 total, and I was still never really comfortable with that.

On my 9/0 and 50TLD i have braid the 9/0 has 950yds 150lb PP with some mono backing and the 50 has 800 braid on top of the mono backing my 12/0's i go with mono due to the price to spool one up with braid

100 lb should be good I got a great deal on a 1500 yd spool of 150 lb so thats why I went with that on my 9/0. Ebay has some good deals on Power Pro .

I would go no higher than 80 lb. you will never put 80 lbs of drag on a fish using a 4/0 or 6/0. the more line you have the better your chances are to landing that fish.

Use a braid backing and top it off with dacron or mono. I use dacron but the botom has no rocks or coral here. every time i put braid in the water it gets choped off. the braid is easy to cut due to the small diameter. I just started useing braid and have learned fast to keep it out of the water. Out of the last 20 baits iv put out the braid has got cut off 4 times with the dacron next to it un touched. every time i put it in the water it gets cut off. Maybe its just my luck to buy a 200$ spool of line and watch it get messed up. Loose a couple hunred yards on 3 or 4 diffrent reels due to a school of blue fish and that stuff gets expensive quick.

Ya it really depends on what your beach/sand is like..where I fish there are rocks and shells unlike any other I've been to. If you use braid there you'll get cut off before you even set the hook.. Now if your beach is clean with nothing but soft sand then you can get away with braid. A lot of guys, especially on the smaller reels like you mentioned, like to use braid as backing with a topshot of heavy mono. I think that's gonna be your best bet until you upgrade to something bigger.
