Muscle cars were always a passion for me since a young age and now is time to renew that fire for the incredible American muscle cars of my yesterday. My first car in high school (class of 1980)was a Ford Torino GT w a 302 engine and after that a few other muscle cars including a 1968 Ford Mustang GT w a 390 ci 330 hp engine and a Hurst 4 speed which I sold in 1995 for $5500 ,,,,what a MISTAKE!!!!Now you cant find them w that engine and that year for less then 30 grand. Now I will invest and hopefully restore some classics that are becoming very valuble.Let us know if you have a great American Classic muscle car.

This being my first project muscle car I am learning some lessons the hard way in time and money but it's all worth it in the long run with a finished product that will be worthy of the streets once again. The car's interior is being reupholstered, front and back seats in black w red stripes to match the exterior will look KILLER(custom not original) ,also new carpeting and door skins.I'm thinking the new paint job will include racing stripes on the hood and rear deck but not sure yet. The floor had a few rust spots that were grinded and patched up and then undercoating on the entire floor and trunk -pre carpet. The dashboard was a mess with cracked dashpad and wiring that was badly rigged including an old Viper alarm that no longer worked and was removed .Also a steering column that had a broken ignition is being addressed this week.I bought a parts car for $400 which has had many parts that I am using to upgrade the red Skylark including a better dashboard ,an original am radio and bezel, wiring harness and many other parts. When you get into these projects you have to know how much you are willing to spend without going over a preset budget according to what the car will be able to be sold for.In other words don't spend more then the car is worth or you are in the red and losing money .It's fun but alot of work to take a car in rough shape and polish it into a shiny DIAMOND but my next project car will have to have much less work for me to buy it..I'm learning as I go along.
