Multiple hooks probibited in natural baits for sharks?

I just had a customer point to some multi hook shark rigs that I have for sale in the store and tell me that they were illegal. I suppose that everyone but me knows about this, but the latest Florida regs prohibit the use of multiple hook in natural baits for sharks. I don't know how to fish large baits with a single hook. I'm going to have to change a lot of leaders or risk becoming a law breaker.

I had a run in with the cops/fwc about a month ago thanx to a snowbird. We had all our gear checked out, and we didnt have one pole with a single hook they didn't say anything to us. Luckily only person that caught heat was the blue hair for lying and wasting everyone's time.

That's good to hear. They probably don't even know the reg exihts or think it's stupid too.. Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't know. I don't know how in the world they keep up with everything as often as it changes, I know I don't.

As the law reads below your only breaking the law if you use the rig....not if your selling it ;)

My interpretation is: multiple hooks are not allowed if you choose to HARVEST the shark. Not catch and release.

I was told that they were meaning treble hooks. As said "multiple hook" meaning treble hook. Its made to target treble hooks but will be enforced at the ossifers descression  . We need to research it deeper and get a confirmed awnser. If the awnser is no double hook rigs I will quit useing circle hooks and go back to my 18 and 20/0 J hooks.

What about the possibility of less metal and weight in the bait and it might lead to more bites/hookups if u give the Shark more time to eat?
