mono vs dacron
i dont think coast has any affect on, tangles, the belly of the dacron not cutting throug the water easy and wrapping around everything, biteing in to your spool when fighting a fish 500 lbs plus, little knots that form out of nowere, and cutting like butter on rock, pillings, and reef!!!

Its advice like this why I signed up for this forum. Before I read this I was leaning toward Dacron, but I'm pretty sure I'll be passing that deal up. Now I need to decide between Mono or Braid. I fish mainly off of a boat for now (until I get my hands on a kayak)...but I fish at the mouth of a Jettie, and so far every shark has headed out, or to the channel, so do you guys think Braid would be ok? i have a 6/0 and a 12/0 to fill, so i wanna make the right choice since it aint so cheap..lol

If you're fishing out of a boat I'd use braid. The small diameter, low stretch, and overall strength make it the best choice. I use exclusively mono from the beach though. Braid just doesn't have the abrasion resistance of mono, and from the beach abrasion resistance is everything. Look into mono that are called copolymer. These types of mono have a coating on the outside of the line that gives it even more abrasion resistance.

Is ther any mono that doesnt stretch? All Iv ever used stretched like a rubber band. It remindes me of that ole construction sain twine the way it stretches. I spooled up some 100 one time and could not stand it cause i had to run way up the beach to get the stretch out. It made me feel like i should use a circle hook. Iv got 2200yds of bilfisher 100lb mono just make an offer and it may be your personal rubber band.
