You caught it and now you're thinking of taking it home to cook. If you want to try your shark for table fare the first thing you should understand is that the shark passes it's urea through it's skin so that the meat has a peculiar sharky smell so special attention is given to getting rid of the smell. The best way to go about this is to fillet your shark as soon possible after capture ,place the fillets on ice, and then cut into 1 inch thick ,4 by 4 inches wide chunks before placing in a large bowl .Now the trick is to getting rid of the shark smell is to cover those fillets that are in the bowl with milk and let them soak overnight. The next day you take them out and dry off the milk and marinate in Mojo Criollo (spanish marinade)for several hours, and now you're ready to drop them egg batter and cracker meal, flour, bread crumbs,,,,it's your choice.Certain species of shark usually the smaller ones are preferred for the table .Be it blacktip,Atlantic sharpnose, bonnethead or small lemon sharks; understand that the smaller sharks up to 50-70 are much better for eating then the larger tougher specimens. We cooked a 70 pound blacktip for the 2008 shark club annual party prepared the same way I just described and it was devoured by the hungry crowd.Everyone was asking "what kind of fish is that" Julio (the cook) and I just looked at each other smiled and told them "grouper of course".The blacktip was a sensation not one single piece was left over.Good luck and please release your sharks if you're not going to cook it up.

Julio cooked it up for us.

and the monsters ate it up!

julio i would have to say the pieces of nurse i noticed during saturdays fish fry on the bridge were dilicious, white meat, however a little mushy and not as firm as your black tip.

it might be because we also had snook and were spoiled with one bite, followed by nurse in the next bite

i have never seen resterants sell shark i wish u lived closer id give u a few lbs of shark meat. but i bet you will like it. if you kill one kill a small to medium size one. that way its not alot of meat if u dont like it and you didnt kill a nice monster.
