long range tuna trip

i have been wanting to go on one of the 20 day long range tuna trips out of sandiago calf i wanted to ask if any of you ever been on one of thoose trips and how was it

Its better if you start on a shorter 3 day. The LRF is a highly systematic system, and jumping aboard a 20-day as your first can be overwhelming and lead to problems. My suggestion is to try a 3 day albacore trip first, learn the proper rigging and gear you need, the "sardine shuffle", and general etiquette needed when fishing on a LR boat (bait tank manners, fighting a fish, etc). Do that, make friends, and then try a 10 or 14 day trip.

I agree. If your new to LRF, it will be more of a chore if you don't have the basics down first. It is a huge rush to spend extended periods on open water once you get acclimated to the environment and crew. Pricey though :roll:
