Just something to keep in mind, i know alot of us bounce around from place to place when we go fishing .. and some of us bring our kids or younger family members/friends ... just gotta say keep an eye on them .. fishing is suppose to be fun but accidents can easilly happen ... unfortunatly a 10 yr old kid was hit by a truck by seven mile bridge his parents let him walk away while unloading the truck ... he is at my dads hospital and already lost a kidney and two broken pelvic bones ... so when fishing (boat or land) make sure to be safe

This is a short list I posted on another shark forum.

Fishing is fun but can be ruined in a second by an accident. Some us drive a long way and take time off work to fish. It would really suck if you or someone in your crew had a accident and ruined the trip. I am going to list a few things to remember and you guys add to it and we will work on a master list that Jeff maybe can pin/sticky.

1. Always have a first aid kit and know how to use it.

2. NEVER drink and shark fish.

3. Have some form of outside communication like a working cell phone or CB or VHF Marine radio for remote locations.

4. Know of any known health conditions of people you are fishing with.

5. ALWAYS have a cutting tool handy when you are in a fighting harness. I use what is called a safety knife from Gerber that is held to my harness by a lanyard. I also carry a knife at all times.

6. Know CPR or at least have current CPR instructions handy.

7.NEVER yak baits without a life vest on.

8.Always keep baits and hooks away from you and in some kind or container like a bucket or crate while in a yak. An old milk crate works great for this. Covering hooks is a good idea also. Old wine corks work great for this. After you get where you are going "pop the cork" and drop the bait.

9. ALWAYS wear shoes. Water shoes are cheap insurance on the beach.

10. Have gloves and use them when leadering a fish.

11. Know your surroundings and always watch when casting baits.

12. Keep hydrated and bring plenty of fresh water and Gatorade.

13. Wear sunscreen and a hat.

14.Know where and how far your local hospital is.

These are just a few that I can think of. Please add to the list if you can think of anything
