Kayaking stories

The craziest kayaking ive done was in early 2010 one night. it was east winds 15mph+ and easily 4-6 or even 5-7 seas. we wanted to go fishing and it was actually a great idea bc the sharks were there. the seaweed for some reason wasn't bad at all and the kayaking was the exact opposite for 350-400 yard bait drops. i flipped everytime on the way in. first hit we got peeled off 300 yrds of line and wasn't ever hooked. i put back out another big bait in the dark and didn't think anything of it. flipped at the sandbar but got the bait out there somehow. then we got a hit, locked the drag and it was peeling line for about 2 minutes until the line broke due to fraying from the fight before. DAMN! So now WE KNOW a big boy is sitting out there swallowing our baits. i kayak out another big bait and was in a rush and used an old rusty swivel. of course it got nailed and after running for about one minute on locked drag the swivel parted at the leader! then i said that im not putting out another bait, im dead tired and it was crazy rough out. after about 10 minutes of arguing with each other, david 'ineedabonita' grabs the kayak and the head of a massive 40lb jack crevalle and says "lets do this". I was pumped because i knew that it was going to get nailed again!!!!! After about 10 minutes of extreme kayaking he come in and says, "I've never focused that much in my life" just so that he wouldn't flip 400 yards out. that was our last bait. he goes to the car to dry off and i left the beach for 5 minutes to grab something from my car as well. we get back to the beach to see my buddy lawrence sitting there with the rod laying on the cooler and he says, "i had him on, but the line broke on the rocks again!" i was extremely angry that we couldnt stay longer or catch that monster with 4 attempts at it. when its rough out, stuff just doesnt go well. that was one of the craziest nights to not land a shark mixed in with the kayaking that i guarantee not many inexperienced people could succeed at.

The east coast can definitely get rough. Texas too. The biggest waves I've ever dealt with were 6-8 footers. Got the baits out without flipping, but the current was so bad we couldn't get them to stick.

I'm considering a small zodiac. Do you have any recommendations? I would have to drag it on the sand to the h20. Is it possible, otherwise Cmoney7 is the official yak man.
