How Willie and I got the Shark Club up and running again!!
I am the main one who helped get the South Florida Shark club back up and running strong together.
I was working the fuel dock at miami beach marina at the time, I think the year was 2005-06,and i had gotten the fever so strong ,that i shark fished that year every day off i had, Catching 20 sum sharks and 4 300- 400 lb bulls.
Well anyways, while i was in the keys every mon and teusaday which were my days off, all i could ever think about with Hammer,Joey ,and Jimmy Fuqua, was Damn i miss the South Florida Shark Club so God Damn Much.
The end of the year party and award ceremonies that we had been going to since we were little rats, running around in Rene de Dios's House playing hide and seek, and looking up to the big Khahunas (Rene,Tar Baby,Will,Hammer) as they would get the big trophies and there names on the Perpetual Plaque Trophy!!! The gatherings we all had together on long key and the 7 mile bridge, The April weekend tournament, the weekly newsletter, the competition, all of it just had us sick and missing it so much.
So one day while i was at work, I said to my self, enough of this, I need to find Willie Fundora.
So i called everybody that knew him, but nobody had his phone number, then i thought if i got his pawn shop phone number i would surely find him, and sure enough i called and i remember to this day it was a guy named abraham who picked up and wouldnt give me his phone number, however i left a message with my phone number.
Then i finally got the phone call, it was Willy Fundora. We hit it off and both almost simultaneously said we need to get all the guys together, and get the shark club up and running again.
I was exstatic, so i started calling every one and there mother, Like a college coach recruiting a high school athlete.
Breaking the great news to every one and telling them we were kicking it off in january, just like the good ol days, and sure enough we got almost every one back together and i actually brought alot of new members as well.
Who would have thought that four years later we would be Running this strong with our own tournament and Web site, and full of budding stars like reymundo, joe clauswell, mark, meir, aaroon,Team Hard hookers,Jd Fagan, Sandra Yudice, and many more.
I am proud to be a member of the South Florida Shark Club.

Thanks Shannon.Sometimes all it takes is a small spark to get the flames burning again and this time around you were that spark. Our passion for this sport, the talented fisherman amongst us ,and our well documented shark fishing history allowed us to create this one of kind website and to take a leadership role in the sport.Where others shy away from a fight we will FIGHT and defend the rights of land-based shark fisherman. It has always been our goal to build a brotherhood of serious, hard core shark fisherman with a strong foundation that has a focus on protecting our rights. We always welcome new shark fisherman as well as seasoned ones to join us in all we do.Thanks again Shannon(south beach Seaweed)for your contributions,,,,,,,, we can always use more man such as yourself .

I, for one, would like to thank both of you for getting things back up and running. The club has reached new heights with the advent of the internet & this website. I will always fondly remember the years when Jerry & I spent every weekend in the Keys fishing. The best Spring Break that this teacher ever had was the one that I think of as "eight days on the bridge with nine guys" at the old Bahia Honda Bridge. JD. Rene, Mike (Seaweed Sr), Nelly, South Beach Louie, my little brother Steve and a few Ginos were there for most of the eight days. What a blast! I was the only one who didn't smell like old bait because I'd walk down the bridge to the state park with a bar of soap and some shampoo to take an outdoor shower in my bikini. (Back when I was in prime bikini shape LOL!) William, I know the club takes up a lot of your "me time" & your financial resources. Thank you both from the bottom of my heart! ![]()
