any ideas? I always just have my g/f hold on to the line with her bare hands until it hurts and she cant no longer.. lol just kidding she uses gloves.

I like to soak the spool of braid in fresh water for a few hours before spooling the reel. The wet braid will pack on the reel tighter. Then have a friend wear gloves and put a folded towel in his lap. Strap into your harness, put the reel in low gear, and crank away. Your friend can put alot of pressure on the spool by pushing it down into his lap. The gloves and towel will prevent it from burning his hands or legs. This is hard work and you are going to sweat, so do this somewhere cool.
I'm sure others do it different, but this has worked well for us. We have spooled 6 50w's and 4 80w's this way and havent had any issues with the braid being too loose.
