Whats the deal with the loop?

I'd rather just splice it directly together.

BTW hollow core splice is a bad ass connection. I never paid attention to it before. I was browsing youtube and watched a few different videos.

Seems really easy and neat. I believe they used to connect sections of rope this way as well
.

Would 200 lb mono fit in to 130 dacron ?

thats for wind on leaders fluorocarbon to braid. u do a loop knot on the braid and attach the hollow core and the normal braid with the two loops

Its for ease of swapping out windon leaders. If doing a permanent connection then I would just splice....either way they both are 100% connection.

Yeap Loop to Loop joined by cats paw is for windons and interchangeable.

200lb in 130 hollow with out modifications is next to impossible. 130 and under mono in 130 hollow. 200lb hollow is needed for 200lb mono.

There is options for what I think your trying to do... you can do a hollow to hollow splice from 130 hollow to 2-300lb hollow then splice your 200lb mono in just like normal.

i.e. say you have 600 yards of 130 hollow backing on your reel and you want a 200lb top shot. Get a 10-12 foot piece of 200lb hollow and do a hollow to hollow spice from your 130 to 200 this will give you the ability to splice in 200lb mono for your top shot. Done this way its super slim and smooth also giving you the strongest connection you can do.

IMO its a very good option for keeping capacity up that gives you a super strong set up. I went with 300 yards of 130 hollow backing to 600 yards of 200 lb hollow to a short top shot of 200lb mono on my T-RX. If any fish ever gets to the 130 backing I have 100% confidence that brand new never touched the water JB 130 can hold 100lbs of drag.
