Good Bye Penn , it was fun while it lasted !!!!
Well Sportsfans , after countless e-mails & Begging & Pleading , it all fell on deaf ears ! I can tell you they didn't research the Land Based sharkin & they really didn't look at the Charter or commercial guys !!!! The Penns I have I will fish untill they die ! After they are gone however I will NEVER EVER buy another Penn !!!! Want to thank all who got involved and voiced out ! Guess I'll start useing Lever Drags on the Beach sooner than later ! Here is the Finale e-mail !
Hi Pete,
Thanks for reaching out to me regarding the 117 & 118 Senators. I checked with our product team and we don’t have it in our product plan to bring another run in the future. Ultimately it came down to the fact that the volume was so low in the past the SKUs were dropped from the line. Thanks again for reaching out to me and let me know if you have any questions.

Well at least he was sincere about it. In all reality, landbased shark fishing fills a very small niche compared to all other big game fishing. 99.9% of big game gear is marketed at guys fishing out of a boat. Granted, there is some stuff that is geared toward us, like those BarBar shark rods, but overall, its all for the boat guys. It's business, gotta be able to understand that.
BUT, because of this I will never sell my 16/0...I'm gonna fish that bad boy until the end of my days.
bauer , I do agree with you , I know alot of Commercial guys who loved those reels along with alot of charter operations , The Big island fisherman still use the 16's & 14's , (Commercial Ahi fisherman & charter operations both .) I agree that Lever drags take the lions share , but I still see a big use for senators. I was informed that the 9/0 next year will be made in China , which leaves the 12/0 Senator, Internationals , Gld's & torque's made in the states. Hey if you are a Penn Fan that's great ! To be honest with you the Senators for me were the last stronghold Penn Had , Like you guys in Fla , we in the Mid Atlantic fish Hard to. I can tell you that the Giant Bluefin tuna and Bigeye have litterally blown up the V series internationals , I have seen Rat Marlin do the same along with a few Mako's too. Dennis Braid Fishes the Penn 80V series after Cal Sheets has upgraded it with success however. Guys if you have them , enjoy them & catch them up ! There is no perfect reel out there ! but for the money Penn use to come close , at least back in the day !
Take care & Tight lines !!!!

Exactly my thoughts as well..Penn has to do what's best for their business in order to survive, you cannot knock them for doing so. This just makes the 14/0 and 16/0 that much more valuable..
This sucks. They should do a limited run and have them special ordered directly from Penn or something, so they wouldn't have to make millions of them to stock stores.
But, I can't imagine how much they would cost if they were brought back. A 12/0 is at least 350 new. And with a price jump of 200 from 9/0 to 12/0. Be as much as an international probably.
I wish my 68 Mustang GT fastback was still in the garage cherished and preserved, a legacy to be handed down ,but oh well,,,,,,, my Penn 16/0's and 14/0's will surely remain on my equally valued Harnell,Harrington and Gatorglass rods for as long as I live they will be waiting for there chance to once again put these mighty workhorse reels back on the forefront of angling accomplishments.Penn might reconsider when they see themselves in the spotlight brought about by some lowly ,unknown land-based shark fisherman on some far off beach in the middle of nowhere catching what no one has ever caught .Think Walter Maxwell or Blackie Reasor and you know what i'm talking about.
One day and one fish is all it takes.
