Hey everyone, I just recently got back from West Palm beach and acquired a freshly wrapped golden sabre rod for my 9/0, it is very light but it can handle much heavier of a reel.
I was wondering if anyone knew any history about golden sabre blank company in california?
From research I found out that: all of the older blanks were all hand-made by Leon Todd in the california based company (my rod is one of the older blanks) and that when he left the company it got a new owner that cut around corners to save money and the rod quality went down and it started slowly dieing and penn bought it and the rights to there stroker rod models (stiff tuna sticks). Leon Todd later got back into the rod building business with calstar using practically the same blank designs.
The reason i'm wondering if anyone knows any info about golden sabre co. is because I cant find any rod similar to mine on the internet or in the calstar blanks catalog. My rod is almost 9ft and im guessing somewhere between 60-100lb class.

Very very nice blank, mustard color very light and very strong action. You got a great deal from X-Generation rods, although quite frankly I would much rather give my business to Marshal at CHAOS, that's all I care to comment in an open forum...
Leon was behing the old Sabre rod company before him and his wife created Calstar, he is an icon and a leader in the rod blank arean he will be missed , here is getting up there in age. Personally 80% of my rods/blanks are Calstar of different shapes and sizes. You probably will not find much information about your blank but I can tell you it is very desireable, I held it during the SFSC ceremony, I have a Diawa Beef Stick that's solid glass and 5'6" long that'l trade for yours....LOL

I found a golden sabre also, suppose to be a 80, waiting for it to come on the brown truck. Got such a deal on it I felt bad! LOL, shipping was more then the rod. Now if I can just find a 555 for the same price!
There's the only image i could find it's 8' 4", it has a 22 tip, its a beautiful 9/0, 10/0 rod
