If we don't take care of our sport we will lose our sport.I will repeat here what we have said many times in the past, "we need to leave the beaches we fish cleaner then we find them" and "leave only our footsteps".It seems like us shark fishermen we are a hard headed bunch and we don't want to believe that most cities that we fish from don't want us on their beaches. The truth is most don't approve of our fishing on what they consider to be 'THERE BEACHES' so why give the locals that live in that city a reason to complain about us ,and why give cops a reason to harass us because we're leaving our old rotting and stinking baits on the sand or in the shallow water where someone can step on a sharp fish spine ?To heave that bait back in the water thinking the tide and crabs will take care of it is a MISTAKE .Most of the time if the surf is not rough that old bait you thought would magically drift away is lingering right where you threw it and next morning it will still be there for beach goers to gawk and complain about to lifeguards. I know what the tendency is at 3 am when you just reeled in half asleep from 400 yards out a 20 lb bait/brick combo that has your arms on fire, BUT IF YOU CARE FOR THE FUTURE OF THE SPORT and YOUR RIGHT TO CATCH SHARKS from beaches you will go the extra mile and take that washed up bait with you. Please RESPECT THE SPORT by not leaving old bait on the sand or in the water when you leave because it will wash ashore to stink and be an unpleasant sight to others using the beach and because people that go into the water during the day will be stepping on those old baits you left the night before.
Make it a point to always keep as part of your gear some heavy duty 30 gallon garbage bags like the ones sold at Home Depot that way when you leave the beach you take the old bait with you and dump it in the nearest beach garbage can and if none are present TAKE GARBAGE OFF THE BEACH in a bag in your cooler and DISPOSE OF IT PROPERLY.
PROTECT THE SPORT
RESPECT THE SPORT
CARE FOR OTHERS THAT USE THE BEACH
Remember that the garbage you leave on the beach can be the spark that gets the next seaside city drafting up A SHARK FISHING BAN.Such was the case when Delray Beach decided to ban shark fishing from there beaches.

I completely agree. We should start an annually beach cleanup day.
