fort myers area shark fishing
I have been fishing fort Myers area specifically the bridges everyday for the past few weeks. I am wanting to surf fish for sharks in this area or surrounding areas. I just need some help if anyone has any advice or would like to tag along and possibly show me a few things. I've been using a Penn 345 gt2 with 700 yards of 80pound braid and 50 poundd mono. I haven't had much luck this week off new pass bridge. I caught one jack and threw on almost the entire thing and got my 4/0 Penn senator spooled. im just looking for advice or if anyone wants to go fishing and were to catch some good bait because every bait I've bought at a shop I haven't gotten one run. you can get ahold of me at 765 366 5721 thanks

also I was wondering if big carlos bridge does any good on outgoing current because I noticed it always being very busy
Tide doesn't matter, it's good anytime within 2 hrs of tidal change. Also you can catch all the bait you need there in the day. But I'd consider taking the levelwind mechanism off the penn gt..if you hook something that swims fast that levelwind won't keep up with it, had a bad experience with one when I first started.
I would highly recommend outgoing on Big Carlos. Sharks tend to feed during strong current shifts and the mouth of this pass is one of the strongest currents I have seen on this coast. Although it is true fishing is good here for almost the entire day. I would also suggest possible trading in that Penn you have for a Penn Senator of at least 9/0 size for that bridge. Also very large Goliath like to collect right under neath that bridge and they can be alot of fun to tangle with.
Thanks for the replies guys! What would be good bait to catch and use there. And how would I catch it? I'm haveing a tuff time catching jack and that's the only bait I've had a shark on. I've got the penn 345gt2 almost brand new and penn senator if anyone wants to trade a big reel for it:)

You could snag rays if they are around. You can also cast net small baits along the shoreline and fish with those. Or you can use a jig. There is usually ladyfish, jacks, trout, black drum, mackerel, and other stuff you can catch there.
