Friday night two of my friends joined me at sharkys Pier in Venice for a little shark fishing. We have all three just gotten into shark fishing lately and have had our share of nights with not even as much as a nibble but apparently we did something right this night. We arrived about 6pm and began setting things up. We kayaked two baits, a small ray and a jack, and the waiting game began. Many have said that due to the dredging on the beach that the sharking action has really slowed down so we decided to just let our baits soak. About 1 o'clock in the morning the clicker sorted to sound that amazing sound that gets everyone's heart pumping. After about 20 minutes, I pulled in my first shark as well as the first for our little group. Even though this shark was the "gummiest" of them, I was thrilled to catch a nurse shark. Can't wait to get out there and fight a big boy next time!
