Again I Agree With Every Thing You Guys Are Saying Referencing The Different Types Of Baits And Tactics To Deploy. And Since I Have Been Sharkfishing Since 1980's I Seen Guys Like ( Rene di Dios, J.D. Hammer, And William ); Sharkfish And Land Monster Sharks Almost Every Where Up And Down The Coasts Of Florida. This Eco-Location Thing I'm Thinking Is More About Tertorialiality. We All Know Most Big Predators ( ie: Tigers, Whites, Bigger Hammers, & Bulls To Some Extent ) Will Defend A Spot Against Other Predators. Meaning That What Ever Food Source Their Using They Want Solely For Their Own. I,ve Done Research With N.O.A.A. & The University Of Miami, And Various Documenterys Testing These Theorys To See How Far They Claim Their Spots, Now We All Know sharks Are Creatures That Will Almost Certinly Take Anything Thats Avaible To Them; A Good Example Is The I.G.F.A. World Record Great White Caught By Capt.Frank Mundus. He Used A Porpose As Bait To Catch That Shark, So Again We Know Sharks Also Will Go After Once In A While A Baby Whale Of One Thats Dieing, ie. The One Off The Northern Part Of The Pacific Ocean That Tried To Attacked A Baby Killer Whale And Ended Up Being Eaten By Its Mother Defending Its Young. So To Say Sharks Wont Take The Chance Is Living With Blinders When Comming From A Fishing Stand Point. I Dont Want Any Body To Think What They Are Using Or Doing Is WRONG OR A INCORRECT METHOD!!! Just Keep A Open Mind And Study Your Local Areas So You Know What To Use And To Catch The Beast from The Deep!!! ;) ;) ;)

Frank Mudus's record was rejected because he was fishing tied up to a dead whale, he was using fish as bait actually and was quite angry with their rejection of the record (he also wasnt the angler, just the captain) Alferd Dean used porpose as bait to catch the current All Tackle world record Great White.

Has any one ever tried a mix? For catfish I love mixing it up, mackerel, worms and a live minnow on the same hook.

Maybe a stingray wing and jack or something like that. Worth a shot.

Occasionally I get a wild hair and add a live pinfish or Grunt to my hook in addition to my big bait. One occasion I added a live small Hardhead catfish to a stingray wing after it sat out there for a few hours. Minutes after I added and dropped the wing+catfish a nice sandbar ate it. Just had to "add some wiggle" I guess . I think the struggling gets their attention when they're being lazy.

Sorry Got The Two Guys Mixed up , But I Do Know When You Look In The I.G.F.A. Records The Details Of The Catch Says Porpose As Bait was Used.

Well according to Frank Mundus in interviews, witnesses and even written in his book he used a fish tied bait. But Afred Dean used porpose to catch the record Great White

Hi Guys:

I have always been partial to the tail section of a 35lb. Jackfish. I have also been partial to a chunk of Tarpon and a section of Blackfin Tuna would be at the top of my list of perfered baits.
For what it is worth...I hate using rays for bait.

i had good luck on corn dogs. float a corn dog out on a 20/0 circle hook instant hook up. if you dont get any thing when you reel up you have a snack before you leave the beach.

all kidding aside i like a big sting ray with a few holes cut in it so bleed out and release a scent. next would be mullet if they are around last would be lady fish prolly.

Bait is just like a lot of fishing gear: the more expensive the better. My favorite bait is tarpon hands down. Buy the tag and catch the big bait and you have the advantage.
