I live close to there and would be happy to meet up and fish with you. I have an okuma 80w and a senator 12/0. I have fished there many times your setup is good and should work just fine. Rays and tuna/dolphin carcasses are very good bait. Just are sure you have a surplus of them because the crabs are horrendous . Bluefish are also good and there are a lot of them. But may is still a little early in the year, it just sends on how quickly the water warms up. But I stills expect a few saris to be around by then, maybe a tiger!!!!

Give pantyhose a shot. Cheap at the dollar store. Just throw your bait in a stocking and tie it off, cut off excess, and hook your bait as you normally would. When its stretched tight you can hardly see it and blood seeps through it just fine. Gives the crabs hell trying to tear up your baits. The Sharks dont seem to care or even notice the hose.
