death of the naples pier
i think the naples pier is dead fishing wise no one has caught a shark there in over 9 months and not a big one in a very long time there are no makeral runs no rays and no pampano and no jacks anymore the only thing that is there is a few jewfish that live under the pier the snook are small and don't bite that often . So my opion is that the naples pier is dead for fishing
It may have to do with the red tide.. it came through pretty bad last year... almost 2 years ago, or maybe it was early last year I forget, I went to that pier and the fishing was on fire... mackeral, snapper, snook, tarpon, black drum, redfish, sheepshead, bait EVERYWHERE and 2 weeks before they told me they got a 9-10ft tiger.
Just an average fisherman.
It was pretty good when I was living over there this time last year (or maybe a bit later in the year). Tons of Mackerel, pompano and some other stuff. Saw some big snook under there too. Give it time, I bet it will pick up again. The piers over here on the east coast are sucking pretty bad too right now. I didn't see a single fish caught at Dania yesterday and all I landed was a 5ft nurse shark. Same story at lake worth last week - one bluefish caught the whole time we were there.

The fort pierce jetty has been the same way. 3 trips this month and its almost like the blue fish never showed up there.
