I have a birthday coming up and i'm looking for a new casting avet. I have a red tr-x, and I want another matching reel. I can not decide on which reel to buy, mx,mxl, or lx. Im looking to put about 550 yards of 65lb braid on it. Any ideas on which one I should pick up?
If you are using it strictly for casting, you could get the mxl, but if you ever wanted to kayak it out I'd get the lx..I have the lx and use it for both casting and kayaking it out, it can handle most sharks you will hook into very easily. The problem with these smaller avets is that the clickers are total garbage and will wear down within 1 year of regular use unless you never get any runs..but they do cast well.
If you are more concerned with casting get the mxl, but the lx is fine to cast too especially if you have decent size hands and you will be able to handle bigger fish.
