Blacktip Line Class record very easy to break!!!

If any one is brave enough to scale down to 2 lb test, doesn't have to be the leader, just the main line, the record is only 6 pounds on 2 lb test. Another one that would be easy is the 6 lb line category only has a 27 pound fish.

I know most of you guys are using heavier line for these fish, but if you want a easy IGFA World Record you can spool up with 2 or 6 pound line for a chance at it.

If any one wants me to look up a record for them I am a IGFA member and will happily help you out. Just message me what you are interested in.

Hope this helps some of you guys

I've fished for kings and sails with 12# and there is NOTHING easy about it. I bass fish with 2# and it's near impossible to doI doubt I could even catch a 6# tipper on 2#. It really is a totally different game

If possible, a boat would be needed to chase down the beast.

I have always hated 2# I can't even set the hook without breaking it, but I know people catch Makos, Threshers and Marlin on it, so I thought maybe one of you would be up to it. And 6# can do some major damage, I have taken 15 lb catfish, 30 pound salmon and all sorts of stuff, nice reel and a chase kayak and I think you would have no problem.

Some of those records make me question the method or legitimacy. The 2lb class mako is 150lbs, and the 12lb class is 652lbs. A few of the Tigers are fishy, too. The 12lb class is at 574lbs? Unless these guys are throwing a flying gaff in these sharks right as they take the bait I just dont see it.

I actually read a article about fishing these fish that can grow over 1000 pounds on light tackle, all they do is basically chase the fish every inch and when it comes up the stick like five gaffs in it and drag it aboard green. The article was talking about how it was more sporting then heavy tackle, but it seemed far from an equal fight to me. Chasing a fish and putting five more giant hooks that won't break in it when it comes close to the surface doesn't seem to fair to me.

That being said you can still catch monsters on light tackle from shore. I hooked and landed a 30 lb king salmon in the middle of a class five rapid and was able to land the fish after 1/2 hour battle.

A 22lb tarpon on 10lb test from a bridge was back breaking enough... going down to 2 is nuts... I know a guy that fishes 3lb braid and medium blue runners are 10 minute + fights... :?

Just an average fisherman.
