im about to buy a new reel and dont know which one i should get.i know the avets are very popular and alittle cheaper but ive heard some great reviews of the makairas.im stuck on whether i should buy the avet from sharkoutlet and get the line for free or should i get a supposedly better reel with no line? any thoughts???
The Makaira engineers have designed a reel that is reputed to put out 100 lbs of drag and the combined engineering effort with Tiburon Reels has really produced a top notch reel.

I am very glad I got together with Josh (blacktip hunter) he recommended the Makaira 80wand I just bought it , the reel is amazing. Large t-handle, easy to switch from high to low gear back to high, has an extremely loud clicker, and has a very nice drag system. I have yet to use it but when the Big Hammer Challenge comes it will be put to the test. I bought my reel from meltontackle.com and had no problems witted delivery. I had it spoiled by them with 200lb braid/mono. The total was around 859.99 including shipping. I would recomd this reel to anyone looking for a new reel.

i just took a look at it.there charging close to 150 dollars to fill it with braid/mono.what kind did you get?
Wow thats strange try only charged me 25$ I got 200lb solid braid and blue 200 lb moimi. I must have gotten on there when they had a sale.
