my team and i learned everything we know about shark fishing from from this site, if it wasn't for this club, some of team dirty south might not be here today " we useto be a lil wild" but since we learned so much and got the fever all we wanted to do was shark fish EVERYDAY!!!!! before I found out about the south florida shark club I was using grunts and snappers for shark bait and using 6/0.fishimg next to people like will, shannon, chris snook hunter ,hammer and Colby we learned fast. first thing we learned was to buy bigger gear!!! next thing was use giant baits and the most important thing we leanred was that the sharks don't come to you , you have to travel to the sharks...this club I have found friends that I now call family, real stand up guys who saw trew my baggy pants gold teeth and my hoody, people like tony and isa , Shannon Bustamante, william fundura ,luis cordova, chriseven my own brother, if it wasn't for this club I wouldn't be as close to joe as I am today in fact we hated each other before we started fishing, all im asking is that we need to keep this club going strong, we need ideas from people to make it better
we went from catching lil sharks with lil reels like this one

to catching

if it wasn't for this club good times like this would have never happened

2010 end of year party

this year was a bad year for the club cause it seems like this was the year that all the core guys to found something different to do then fish.
example I had a kid, joe sand tigger got a night job, jd Fagan got a girl, tony isa have a lot of work, chris snook hunter opened a new company , carl is doing great as a pro golfer,jd hammer is still doing his thing, luis cordova has a million evens with his kids, timmy t fell off the earth, mark got a job, Colby is flying around the world, ect ect this was just a bad year

I for one am going to start being more active in the club. thanks for reading everyone

Good to see what positive impacts the club has had on you and many others, I've benefited as well by meeting new people and helping others out and whatnot. Ya know the site is kind of like the fishing, it's been ridiculously slow for the most part this year. Not as many people are fishing because they didn't get hyped up for a big tournament (Jimmy Dean and those that travel from out of state for example). We gotta step it up next year with a tournament, get a bunch of fresh junior anglers, have teams that are 100% for the club and not for their personal interests that want to argue over their sharks and divide support, and raise awareness of the site's existence.

Just an average fisherman.

I was loosing motivation this summer to shark fish due to lack of success but my friends, many of whom I met from SFSC, and reading old reports kept my shark fever going. Ended up catching my biggest shark yet before summer was over. Lets bring SFSC back to life. My Duel is ready

My 12/0 is ready. I love this site. It's the reason I started shark fishing. 90% of the guys I fish with is because of this club. If the mullet ever really show up, I'll commit to posting more reports.

I am thankful to Raymundo for this post because I have been feeling really crappy lately with too much on my plate, always doing more then my share and working too hard. I am grateful for Ray's sincere post and am more then happy that the club and it's members have touched so many and have had a positive impact on so many. At times if I get depressed because life has cut me deep I always find the spirit to move forward, find the light in the darkness, and always try and find time to bring the club members together in some way. Although it seems fruitless at times,i always push to do it for the benefit of all. We continue to keep the club together for tradition,we do it for the love of the sport,we do it for Rene who left his mark on all of us ,for the newbies who are watching what we do in fascination -wanting to do what we do,for those who feel a connection to shark fishing in one way or another. To say that we have made good friends over the years because of shark fishing and the club is an understatement. We keep alive the memory of fishing buddies no longer with us and we remember the characters we have met along the way, all the nutty hardcore shark fishermen trying to make a mark in this sport----WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE A BIG WELCOME FOR THEM because we take pride creating top notch shark fishermen for the world to see. This club is part of who we are, it is the thread that binds us ,it is all the shared adventures on bridges ,on beaches,on Jetties, or on piers that reminds us it is the memory of past times and hopes of good times still to come.I can always count on a fishing Partner being just one phone call away for a local spot one night trip or weekend getaway there's always someone with the fever ready to go.It has been a very tough year but we are still here and those that thought we were done ARE WRONG,we are the South Florida Shark Club.

Although it is extremely hard, I agree with Ray 100 percent . I would love to continue to have our own shark club.
Especially with alot of our kids getting older and now almost ready to carry a rod and reel. Excellent post ray.

Lets try to arrange a bridge gathering this October to rekindle that camaraderie that keeps us
All together through thick and thin, lets try our best to all get together out on the 7 mile bridge and
Let the good times roll!! Whoever can make it fine, whoever can't it's also ok. I think we need to stop being
So hard on each other and be thankful and appreciative for w.e time or dedication
Members can put forward .

I know for a fact I may have pressed to hard on several of you to attend meetings or gatherings on the sand and I think it
Does worst than it does any good. If we call a meeting or set up a gathering this October we will enjoy the conpany of those that attend and wish the missing guys an appearance the next time opposed to a herrassment or hissy fit.

This Teusday we will meet at Willys house to enjoy a dinner together and discuss the club and everything
We can do to make it better. Please join us weather you are a member , a friend, or someone of interest.

SFSC lets stand strong

Great write up ray!!! I myself have not done any fishing this summer and have been very busy with life kids and new work schedule but I for one have made a lot of great friends from the club and will continue making friends and doing my part as the event coordinator to try and get more involved with creating get togethers for the new and old members!! It is those times when we have these get togethers to reflect on the history of the club and have a real good time sharing stories and playing pranks and partying on the bridges, beaches etccc!! Since I joined the club I have had nothing but fun times and learned plenty of different styles, rigs and ways to fish from the younger guys and the older guys and the veterans!!! There is so much info and knowledge on the site that a person that never fished before can go on the site and read up in the archives and learn so much about the history and the sport and can go out and fish!! You are never to old to learn and you will keep learning from this club. Whether it is on the site or on the bridges, beaches, piers fishing side by side with the new members, the old members and the legends of the shark club!!!! There is never a dull moment!!! South Florida Shark Club welcomes ALL!!!!

I agree 100%, I probably would not have continued to shark fish if it wasn't for the SFSC. I learned mostly everything I know now from the more experienced guys like Will, Hammer, Shannon, because they weren't selfish and taught the guys who don't know anything, how to catch big sharks, what to use, where to go, who to go with on your team, etc. Thanks for everything thus far with the SFSC!!!
