Sorry for the late report my buddy still hasn't gotten his pictures to me... probly never will. I got my tags this year for Lake Hancock in Polk County which is just 20 mins from my house. This is a gator infested lake known around the state to have some of the biggest gators around. Unfortunately, all the new guys inspired by that tv show took all the tags so neither of my buddies got tags.
Anyways, it started off rough with bad weather which ruins it for Lake Hancock. Regardless we fished the first 4 nights of my week for 8-12 hours a night and then went to school in the morning, work in the afternoon, and back at it. Thanks to my buddies for stickin through it. As exhaustion was setting in and we still hadn't found the gator we were looking for we decided a last minute effort on Labor day morning before a huge storm the next day would be good.
It payed off with a 10'1" 250lb gator at 8am and a 11'3" 900lb monster at 9:45am... we were cutting it close (you can hunt till 10am). The 10 ft gator I'm gonna mount the head myself but the big one had the head of a 13' gator so I'm getting that done professionally. The dimensions were 10" wide at snout, 13" from between eyes to end of snout, and 22" total head length. Funny thing was that a 13' gator was watching us 15yds from the boat the whole time we were fighting the 11fter. Dangit I wish we had more tags.
I thank God every day that I have been blessed enough to have been raised in this sportsmans paradise here in central Florida. I look forward to hanging these heads on my big game trophy wall next to my others and whatever the next big game species is that I get to conquer.
