Hey dude, not trying to ruffle any feathers because I don't personally know any of those guys or yourself, but I do know that I have seen no fish this year and very few fish period as big as Zach Miller's hammer he caught recently. The only one that comes to mind is Rene De Dios's 14 footer. I believe in giving credit where credit is due and anyone that puts a 13' class hammer on the beach deserves some credit. My 2 cents. Good luck in the BHC.

I wrote that and you have to understand the history behind what we do to understand that catching one or two big ass sharks does not make you a top dawg shark hunter .Longevity and producing over the years makes you a top dawg in my book.Over the years I have seen so many shark fisherman come into the sport do good for some years then they get married have kids and they disappear completely.I believe Zach miller is a very good young shark hunter I've seen his deternmination with my own eyes. And yes the young guns that are cocky like Team Rebel and including clack, clack, clack have alot to learn and alot to mature and earn stripes over the years not in one season of shark fishing.I hate the politics in this game but you touched on a subject I'm sensitive about so here goes ,,,,,,,there are way too many haters in this sport including people on many different boards and in different states who think that because they have been fishing 5 or 6 years it makes them experts and that's far from the truth. There are many out there who hate to bash the shark club because of our history so they don't participate on this board and try to talk us down--- but here we are stronger then ever and continously growing From my heart i invite every land-based shark hunter out there to compete in the 2011 BIG HAMMER CHALLENGE and that includes Chris Deaver,Team Rebel(Zach),Team land Pirtates ,Pete Barrett and yes even Mike Palmer is welcome here .
I harbour no grudges to anyone whatsoever and everyone has something to offer in there own unique way,and we honor the pioneers the old schoolers ,the old and now frail who taught us what we know today .We don't go out of our way to trample there history and there techniques like many have attempted to do to the South Florida Shark Club over the years. Fish the BIG HAMMER and show what you got is the messege i preach.
Bring love ,unity and respect to this sport not hating and bashing enough of that crap allready.

I know Team Toothfairy is lookn fowards to next year. We kinda have alot ridn on our backs. But it only takes ONE bait! Anyone can paddle it or throw it off a bridge or pier.Remember the seven "p's". Prior,Proper,Prepairedness,Prevents,Piss,Poor,Preformance! You have to be prepaired for anything, and ya have to preform at your peek! Bet ya ass we're bringing everything we got next year! Good luck and welcome newcomers!!!!

very well put William could not have said it better it seems that alot of people are getting caught up in the hype that they are forgetting the real reason why shark fisherman are such a tightly knitten group. It is about the people and the time people spend together hanging out ,it is about the challenge of hooking fighting and landing a large shark not by yourself but with others , it is about making friends and having fun. Once you loose sight of that you loose sight of what all the greats have taught us. Again great job Will that was very well put.
When every one saw my mako they thought it was just luck. Most probaly didnt see the one me and Sean caught the november prior. Every time I walk out on the beach I learn something new. My shark fishing started when I was 5. I went with my Dad, Grandfather, and uncles. I got to fish with Elmo and Roddie back in the day. The first trip I rember, Elmo hauled me over the rail with a water hose tied around my waist. I am 40 now and I look at the old 12/0 that Paw Paw bought in 1960 and think how proud he must be to see me with a land based world record mako and Joey with a land based world record tiger. What we bring to the table is 3 generations of land based shark fishermen. I have never missed a year from fishin. I have never needed at tourniment to push me to fish, I fish any way. I guess I understand why some make excuses, some day i may have one. just the other day a friend and i was laughing about how intemidating it must be to fish against us with a fresh tourniment win and two big blue world records. Any way I am competing with, not against. Like Joey said, It only takes that one bait and a rookie could paddle it. I will enjoy fishing the tourniment whether we win or not.
